How To Shift Gears
Learning how to shift gears on a motorcycle can be one of the more tricky things to pick up for new riders. The diagram below shows the basic gear shift set-up for most motorcycles:
To shift a motorcycle you need to follow the following 4 basic steps:
- Close the throttle.
- Pull in the clutch.
- Shift into the gear you need for the situation you are in.
- Then release the clutch smoothly while adding throttle again.
